On Saturday we have the Qipco 2000 Guineas with hot favourite Frankel heading the market, this unbeaten son of Galileo is of course a worthy favourite. Frankel was the champion 2yo of 2010 and is a beast of a horse; however the record for champion 2yo’s in the 2000 guineas is terrible to put it politely! However this colt could be a different class, he is working impressively on the Newmarket gallops but at odds of around 4/7 he is not a bet for me no matter if he comes out top rated on the horse racing ratings on Saturday. I have already taken my position with an antepost bet on Roderic O’Connor at just over 16/1; he hails from the powerful Aiden O’Brien stable. The Ballydoyle camp seem to have their string of horses much more forward then previous years and I think at the price (currently 9/1) he is worth a bet at turning the tables on Frankel, whom he was a 2 ¼ length second to in the Dewhurst last back end. There is a very interesting stat for this race which I will be informing my members about on the day, along with the selections from the betting system I have used for the past 8yrs to find the winner.

The Qipco 1000 Guineas has three fillies vying for favourite, with Moonlight Cloud, Memory & Havant. According to trainer Sir Michael Stoute, Havant prefers a bit of cut in the going (both wins with cut) but my feeling is that horses can perform on a faster surface even though to their disliking, but it’s their performances subsequent to on similar fast surfaces that worry me, generally they remember the jar from racing on a faster surface and therefore don’t let themselves down as much compared to on a good or softer going. I haven’t had a bet on the race; I will be waiting until the day to see what the ratings produce.

The top rated winners and the horses to note feature have been banging in more winners of late and a full round up of the month will be on the blog on Monday.

Enjoy your bank holiday.
