The Cheltenham festival comes to a close today, its been a great weeks racing as per usual and Nicky Henderson has been in outstanding form!
The horse racing as a spectator has been great, with some great finishes!
We had three winning top rated bets yesterday, the main one been the World Hurdle winner Big Bucks whose winning SP of 5/6 was mind boggling!
Sir Des Champs always looked like a solid bet and was well backed into 3/1 to get the ratings off to a good start.
The Ryanair Chase has been a struggle for me from a betting point of view and this year the top rated Captain Chris got out paced at a vital time in the race but stayed on, however I do not think he would have won even if his jockey had placed him handier in the race.
Salut Flo did the business in the Byrne Group Plate at 9/2 and gave a good front running display, one that the Pipe horses are renowned for.
Let’s hope for a cracking race in the Gold Cup today!
I backed Burton Port at 50/1 for last season’s Gold Cup before he ran in the Hennssey Gold Cup Chase, only for him to get injured and miss the race, the ratings last year suggested that Long Run would win the Cheltenham Gold Cup, and he landed us some nice bets on the day! This year he hasn’t looked like himself and therefore I am pleased to be holding another decent ante post bet on Burton Port, let’s just hope that dreaded bounce factor doesn’t materialise today!
